Install Default Plugins #
Basil works with several recommended plugins. Install them from Appearance → Install Plugins after activating the theme.
Install recommended plugins #
- Go to Appearance → Install Plugins.
- Check the box in the table header to select all plugins (or select the ones you need).
- Under Bulk actions, choose Install and click Apply.
- When installation finishes, return to the same page, choose Activate from Bulk actions, and click Apply.
We recommend installing all listed plugins before importing the demo so you get the full Basil experience.
Cooked #
Cooked powers recipes on your site — browse pages, profiles, taxonomies, and recipe templates all depend on it. Install and activate Cooked before adding recipes or importing the demo.

Cooked Pro #
Cooked Pro adds premium features used by the Basil demo. It is bundled with Basil as plugins/cooked-pro.zip inside your theme package.
- Install and activate Cooked Pro from Appearance → Install Plugins (if it is not already active).
- Enter your license under Recipes → Settings → License.

One Click Demo Import (optional) #
Required only if you plan to import the Basil demo. Install and activate it before continuing to Install Demo Content.

WooCommerce (optional) #
WooCommerce is optional. The Basil demo includes shop sidebar widgets; install WooCommerce if you want that functionality.
